asking for advice

I am an aunt of a 12-year old child with autism. He needs an wireless bedwetting alarm, a weighted blancket and a squeeze vest. Does anybody have experience with these devices? Are they really efficient? Can anybody suggest where is better to go for buying them? THANK YOU.

  • Hi there.

My son had a bedwetting alarm - not a wireless one, but a battery operated one, which we were lent by the local NHS. I must say they were brilliant with us (free night-time pants, lots of suggestions for helping get him dry) and it worked a treat for our 9 year old son. So, I would see if there are resources you can borrow before you go and buy things.

The only thing with the alarm was that it was quite loud and he was quite distressed the first few times it woke him up. He refused to wear it again for a while, so we had to give it a break and then try again in a couple of weeks. Massive use of incentives and treats! Once he gave it a good go though, it only took him a week or so for it to work.
