Withdrawing Child from preschool

Hi,

My wife and I have chosen to withdraw our Autistic son from preschool immediately due to his needs not being me and we feel that he is being discriminated against. This is due to the lack of effort to include him in activities for example not taking him outside because there is no one on one available, despite someone waiting inside to clean the room so the staff can depart as soon as possible after the session, so he would be in a room with someone cleaning not entertaining/interacting with him at an appropriate level. Sending him home on certain days (last day in before christmas as it was a play day with little structure). There are numerous examples and these have all been very distressing for my wife. We have sent a pleasant message to the head saying he won't be returning to which she replied a lengthy and rather aggressive message. Also stating that we need to give notice and that we will have to pay a months tuition. I appreciate this is often the case but with what we feel were fair grounds to withdraw him immediately and that he's not been supported in the right way and don't believe we should have to pay anything. We will be seeking legal advice however, Please let me know if anyone has an opinion or any first hand experience.

  • It's terrible how indifferent preschool and school institutions are to the problems of autistic children. I hope everything is okay with you and your son getting into a good elementary school with professional teachers. My daughter has Asperger's syndrome, and we also had problems at the first preschool we attended. after that, we took her out of this institution and contacted the school from the website goldenpoppyschool.com . They specialize in the early development of children's talents, which is very important for an autistic child. Now my daughter is 7, and she plays the piano and sings thanks to classes at this school superbly.
