Other children

My Grandson is only 2 and is waiting for his diognosis at the moment. I likes being with adults ( mum Dad me his uncle ) but doesn’t like other children of his own age at all. We are hoping this will change has anyone got any experience on autism and friendships?

  • Hi again!

Friends are something that autistic children can struggle with but at 2 I wouldn't worry to much about it. My daughter did not like interacting with other children much at preschool she preferred adult company. She is 8 now in mainstream school and does struggle with friends however in the first few years at school she did make friends and settle in to a routine, she is having issues now as social demands are getting more complex and that she just can't get her head round!

If you search the main nas site you will find lots of information on this as well as ways of communicating to explain social interaction to your grandson
