Parenting course - any advice please?

Following my 14 yo daughter's aggressive outbursts to her family which escalated her and brother to becoming Children in Need, we were advised to attend a parenting course, Non Violent Resistance. We're desperate as every day is a huge challenge with her and she has missed lots of school. We've been on the waiting list for a few months and finally received the call with details of the course. Except now we're told we may not be accepted due to the fact she has Social Communication Disorder/suspected ASD.

What other options are there? Is there a parenting course suitable for parents of teens on the spectrum?

  • I would recommend contacting the nas helpline they should have specialist advice on this. However I have read other parents on here using that strategy with asd children so I don't know why you wouldn't be able to do it. I'm sorry I can't really recommend any parenting courses as the one my family support worker put me on ( trying to avoid cdc blaming parenting to get out of assessing my daughter)  was the most basic and pointless waste of time! It had no mention of children with additional needs.

    Sorry I'm not more helpful
