Ignorance re Autism

I care for my 12 year old autistic grandson who lives with me and my wife, in addition to Kyle I have a seven year old grand daughter who lives with her father ( who we don’t get on with) but get to see a couple of times a week due to a court order, recently he refused all access to her citing Kyle’s behaviour at times as the reason even though they are thick as thieves when together, has anyone else experienced similar and how they overcame the situation re this ignorance towards autistic children and at time behaviour
