Hello

I am looking for a bit of guidance, I may have to give up my job to care for my autistic son. He gets his DLA and I’ve been told to apply for carers allowance but I just wondered if anyone knows what benefits there are if there are any that you can also apply for?

There is a page here on the NAS site with information about the various types of benefits you may be entitled to - https://www.autism.org.uk/about/benefits-care/benefits.aspx - as well as a separate page about where to find advice on the subject of benefits - https://www.autism.org.uk/about/benefits-care/advice.aspx

Depending on your specific circumstances you may be entitled to various different forms of assistance, which the pages above can explain in more detail. However, if you'd like to talk to someone directly, you can call the NAS Helpline on 0808 800 4104 from 10am-4pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am-3pm on Fridays.
