Diagnosis today.

Hi there,

my little man was officially diagnosed as being autistic today. He is approaching 10. I thought that it wouldn't make a difference to be told he has autism but I feel like I am in shock. It is a mix between being relieved and sad. Please tell me that I am not the only one to experience these emotions? Feeling a bit lost at the moment.

  • Hi I am a  mother to 4 children between 22 years and 10 months, and we are currently trying to get our 7 year old daughter diagnosed. We have always known she was a little different and has her share of issues and when she is struggling she really can push us, but when she was at school (it has started showing now) she was the perfect child and I felt like I was the crazy one who kept complaining about these strange behaviours as they never saw them luckily they supported me any way and now she is showing signs at school this has helped. 

    My rambling point is that yes I to feel sad, tired and frustrated and a whole wealth of other emotions but it doesn't change anything she is still and will always be my beautiful girl she drives me nuts sometimes but I wouldn't have her any other way.

    The only reason we seek diagnosis is so that as she grows up she can understand and access help.
