Wearing nappies in school

My little boy who will be 4 years and 5 months at the start of September will be starting mainstream primary school. I have amother little boy who had just finished Reception class at the same school. The school have been very supportive and helpful and my little boy who has ASD has been given a statement and one to one assistance with a HLTA whom we have met and is fantastic. My only concern is that he will be starting school in nappies as all attempts to potty train have failed. We are going to try again over summer but don't think we will be successful. School do not have any issues with this and a care plan will be in place but I am finding it difficult. Was just looking to hear from other parents/ carers who have had children in mainstream school in nappies and what age they were toilet trained. Thank you, just feel a little lost

  • My daughter was still not potty trained during the summer before she started school and it was literally about 3 days before she started school she started using the toilet! She has autism but it was also the same for my son who doesn't. Good luck over the summer but if all else fails at least the school is not only prepared but ready and accepting xx
