Hi everyone.
Hoping for some advise. My son is and has high functioning ASD (aspergers). He is extremely intelligent and knows everything about everything.
This morning my step dad had a massive heart attack and unfortunately didn’t survive. This man has been like a dad to me for 15 years and without a doubt my kids see him as grandad.
I told my son as best as I thought he’d understand. He’s very matter of fact. So stuck to the truth. He has now gone into none contact mode. Totally none verbal, this is his meltdown method.
Im worried he won’t talk to me about how he feels. He’ll get all the information from the internet regarding the medical issues behind my step dads sudden death and will understand medically what has happened but I’m concerned he won’t grieve.
We’ve never had a family death that would effect my children so directly so am looking for some guidance on how to deal with this.
