Hello I have recently changed jobs. My six year old has been expressing his anxiety in all the usual ways such as rattling doors and pacing, however is is much more intense and at times more extreme: name calling, refusing to go anywhere, being unkind to other children and hurting himself. I don't know whether to go back to my old job or persue with the new one. Any suggestions welcomed.
Hi NAS36591,
We have an information page here on the NAS site called 'Preparing for change' - http://www.autism.org.uk/about/behaviour/preparing-for-change.aspx - with some advice about managing change in the life of a child with ASD, strategies for minimising disruption, methods of communicating, and so on.
At the bottom of the page linked there is also the number and opening hours of our Autism Helpline, if you would like to speak to someone more directly.
Hope this is of some help,

Thank you. I did do most of that. It became so stressful I let the job go. It was making me anxious too. Definitely very helpful information which I will use again and again.
