Gaming hobby rant (think that is what it's called)

I just had several people say this too me now and wondered if anyone else finds it annoying. Because gaming is one of my main hobbies and I spend a lot of my time doing it, when people ask what my hobbies are and I say gaming, they always seem to say something like "when I was younger I loved gaming but now I just don't like it as much I don't know why, once you grow older you will find out that your gaming interests may change etc" like for some reason it really annoys me because gaming is for adults as well, and the way they just say it seems to make me think that gaming isn't accepted or isn't accepted as a positive hobbiy etc. Like I always think hobbies are hobbies they will last and I just find it quite offensive when they say stuff like "things may change for you when you get older etc" I don't think if they like it if I said the same to their hobby. I dunno, this just offends me and thought I'll see if others view it the same. It doesn't annoy me if that makes sense, hard to describe but I'll still game and keep it as a hobby no matter what others say.

Be logical. State such things as the RATINGS for a game: U, PGA, 15, 18, and such.

In society, people give games rated for ADULTS ONLY... for their children to play.

E.G.  ..."Halo" or "Call Of Duty", much?

  • Me again. I suppose what I meant in my last post, was that no matter what the topic is, or what age a person is... if they are interested in the same thing, then they shall engage in cheery conversation about it at you; And if they are not interested, then they will pass some quip in order to dismiss the topic.
For examples: I am an Illustrator/Cartoonist, and I am often dismissed by persons laughing "Aw, cartoons and pictures are just for kids!!"

With regards to Games, the best example to unite both adults and children is just one word: POKEMON.

It is just the way that society is. And, yes, it is "annoying", but then you usually fall back upon a group who is interested in the subject anyway --- and within that group, age does not matter so much. 'Bye for now.
