Site leaders!

Morning all,I came on to have a quick look how things were going, whilst half asleep I went to community page to click"browse forums" and hit "site leaders" heading below it by mistake. It is in pink and bought up a page which has the ten names of our site leaders.

next to each name it has their points score! Not sure what the points represent but well done all.

underneath it has a box to reply in?

I have voted to have it removed as I cannot see what purpose it serves. Well I can imagine it rewards those who.

A)Post the most.

B)Are most helpful.

C)Spend most time on here.

D) All the above.

E)None of the above.

If we are to keep it then it would be nice if it explained just what it represented?

Other wise it is meaningless or open to misinterpretation.

I think we are extremely lucky to have such valuable members who take a lot of time and trouble to help us out.

We know who they are and don't need a points system to highlite their usefulness.(or do we.?)

How about a "LIKE" button on each post so that if we like what that person has said we can tell them,we wouldn't need to reply in a post just to tell them. For instance if I read a post from someone needing help and one of our caring members helps them I would like them to know they are appreciated.

If someone just wants to unload some issues I could "LIKE" the post without commenting just to say "hey I am here,I have read your worries, you are not alone.I agree ".a simple way of letting them know people are listening.

LIKE all especially to our valued leaders.

I have also voted to have the Site Leader board removed...I also dislike the connotations of it being either:

    leader noun [ C ] (CONTROLLING)

B1 a person in control of a group, country, or situation:

    or

    leader noun [ C ] (WINNING)

C1 someone or something that is winning during a race or other situation where people are competing:

Both of the above definitions coming from the Cambridge Dictionary.

I believe points are determined by the number of posts made and likes received...points I think are also awarded for starting threads.

In terms of the number of posts that I have made think I may have broken their system...as it is very common for me to post, then re-read the post, then edit my post to correct a spelling or to add to it and then I RE-POST my now edited "musing" - so by re-posting the same reply...does the system take that as two postings.....so maybe I have falsely inflated my points!

I do use the like function on posts as it is a good way to show appreciation for a post made...and also shows these at the top of the thread, which I think is helpful as it can be a challenge at times finding replies...though not impossible.

  • LIKE button? Where is that then.I just spent ages writing about a lack of it.

edited to say,is that the up and down bits with a 0 between them? Not exactly obvious.I just asked about them wee things as well. This site is not exactly aimed at a low achiever like me.

  • well I just clicked on your up thing and it said"1" I then clicked the down and it went back to "0" ,or have I not like your reply?

  • I agree... sometimes things are serious (when they need to be)...but other times it is great to reach out and connect in a fun way!

I have noticed here that like everyone we have our up days and down days, gregarious and fun loving times and run for the duvet  (or shed hiding) moments.

It is reassuring that there always seems to be someone around..and everyone is rather lovely!! :)
