I kept coming up as anonymous but then misfit when I replied .. disconcerting! 

I always try to be positive and you didn't notice in a reply to you a while back I typed "missy61" no harm intended.Oh I have assumed you are female!!! Please tell me if I am wrong,I will beg for forgiveness lol.

Just makes me shrink away then they get cross with that too. 

It certainly matters...and I am at a loss as well as to how I move forward with that...

I think families find it difficult to know how they should be to best support and they are not always mindful of how their words and actions can impact...with even the slightest of things

Hurrah, the Elephant has come out of hiding!  I think we all felt safer connecting to other females, but there is more that connects us than divides us with the males of this planet.  I don't think we should make divisions among ourselves but am probably being hopelessly naïve again.

I get that too. It's ignored in every sense. I suppose one reason I wanted a diagnosis was because of that but it's almost worse now. I felt like I didn't fit, I found a reason I don't fit, I still don't fit.... Does it matter? Yes it still matters. So it's really hard if there is a family gathering or something I just squirm inside blundering on the outside. I haven't quite lost hope I'll get it right one day. I do have some lovely family by the way I expect it's just my perception. 

Well....my family (those who talk to me) don't mention the elephant even though they recognise that I'm not right in myself....and my husband does not even want to try and open that Pandora's box even though he he the only person (apart from you guys and my doctor) who knows about my self diagnosis...

Elephants are lovely, beautiful, gracious creatures . They are caring and look after one another. With this explanation of Elephant you are definitely most wonderful to have in the room

I think my husband would definely define himself as the one in charge! But hey, he is very old school in his mindset....or (psst) just very insecure

Please that my anatomical arrangements are not a bother! Lol.... are your posts are always very lovely...

I didn't want to be identifiable by gender but yet it was originally other women I wanted to connect with because that felt safer. But I can see that it's useful to be able to tell. I have surprised myself by feeling ok chatting to Tom and Lonewarrior. 

Do you still feel like you are an elephant in the room on here or can this be a place where you are not ( says she sticking to misfit!)? You call and identify yourself what you feel comfortable with .. 

Hi all,thank you missy61.it was supposed to make you smile,dear X if I go back over your posts I will no doubt find out if you are male,female or cross gender,it matters not to me! But society has taught me that ladies should be treated with respect and politeness,as do men ,,,,,but society has dictated that men are  strong and more resilient! Sadly these stereo types are just that,no reality of actual real life.

do you that you should be able to distinguish gender by username....for example...when I first joined this hub of mis-wired peeps I was firstly keen to identify with other Aspie women....

i gave myself the name Elephantintheroom....as that is what I perceive myself to be...then changed to x as was starting to strip my account details with a view to exiting the room...

should the elephant tag return....or should it change again.....

with the current name x I might be taken for a bloke called Malcolm....or a small kiss.....or the place where treasure can be found!!

Hey Lonewarrior. I did notice. It made me smile and it's just fine. Endearing. Sometimes think it should be hissyfit too! I still feel like a misfit at the moment but you never know I might change it to something pretty one day. Yes that's right I'm female. Carry on I quite like it.
