Need some motivation to help me keep on pushing on in life at the moment
I am very fond of Oscar Wilde's words from his essay, The Soul of Man Under Socialism:-
Charity is a woefully inadequate means of partial restitution.
Others I like are: giving isn't giving til it hurts; funny isn't funny if it hurts someone else; rules are not made until they are broken....
The last one about rules is more of a paradox I suppose. All three of them came from a teacher at school, my former Head of Year.
One more for the time being, otherwise I'll industrialize the process and keep turning them out lol -
Making a mountain out of a mole hill....
This was presented to me as 'an old adage', and they were well meant and kindly - and timely - words, at a point when I did in fact need to heed them.
