Sick Notes?

Hello there,

Could someone please help me.

I'll be brief by cutting a very long winded story short so I don't take up too much of your time.

I was diagnosed with aspergers syndrome at the age of 7 and have suffered terrible anxiety problems my entire life.

Recently it is the worst that it has ever been. I haven't left my home in 2 years and I am terrified when even the doorbell goes. After a long time of denial as to how bad my situation I have finally reached the point of realising I need help and have decided to try and claim for esa.

The only problem is that I've been told I need a sick note before I can apply. I haven't seen my GP in over two years so he wouldn't know my situation. Plus I don't feel phyically sick. I'm just very confused as what to do.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

ps. Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place. I'm am new to this website you see.

  • I agree with DragonCat16 that you should try to get a home visit. Looks like this post from from a long time ago but I hope you get or have gotten some help.  You might need to call the NHS helpline and they might be able to help direct you to the right location.  I don't have much experience in this area so I'm sorry I'm not much help.  I hope someone here can be of more assistance.  I hope you get some answers soon.

  • I don't know why this hasn't received a response, but not having been able to leave one's home for 2 years (whether or not you feel physically sick) probably counts as an illness. Perhaps if you still feel unable to leave your home, you could ask your GP for a house call, and possibly a referral for more help.
