Does this sound familar?

Hi guys.

Im not diagnosed. Ive done a fair amount of reading and thinking and often i think of something or remember something that really fits. sometimes  I question though. Eg.

I was planning on having a Bath in the evening. It wasnt my usual week of planning and routine but i had it in my head that i was going to have a bath later in the evening. My boyfirend (who i live with) did something out of his usual evening events and groomed our cats in the bathroom. He asked for my help ( only slight discomfort at something unusual happening). I was sat by the bath and i just thought...im going to have one now. And i put the taps on. I felt so happy and elated. Like i acted spontaniously. Like i did something freeley. I wasnt trapped in my head box or train tracks of specfic planned action. On reflection it was also kind of scary. Like without living by my plans and routines anything could happen. Life would be like free falling.

Anyway, does this sound familar or make sense? Is it autistic or am i just weird. ...or is it normal?!

    Hi and welcome,

Autism does not control everything that you do! You are allowed to do things on the spur of the moment, you are allowed to have a bath when you feel like it! In fact, it is important to understand that if you have autism then it is just one part or aspect of your behaviour, don't let it take over your life entirely.

It sounds as though your planning and routine may have got a bit out of hand - I think that a lot of OCD behaviour is actually routine behaviour that needs to be brought back under control. You still have the ability to make choices even if you have obsessive traits, you still have the ability to take back control when things get silly.
