My Favourite Obsessions

I have two major obsessions, both of which seem to be quite costly!

The first one being Lego Technic. I love the stuff, can't get enough of it. Getting a new set, sitting down opening all the packets, laying out all the pieces and disappearing into a world of building. Whether it be the smaller sets, or the biggers sets, they completely absorb me! I'm currently only 2 sets away from having the entire 2017 Technic Set. My favourite of all my Technic sets though has to be the Porsche 911 GT3. It took me 2 whole days to build!

My other obsession, is reptiles, I have a certain connection with all my reptiles, and I almost seem to understand them better than I do any people around me! As it stands I have a Common Boa Constrictor, King Corn Snake, Strawberry Corn Snake, Crested Gecko and 2 Bearded Dragons. I'm just sorting out setting up a rack in my new house, to enable me to house multiple Royal Pythons too! A friend is kick starting his business this year, and wants some help, so I've offered to house some and breed them for him. Safe to say, I'm excited! ! !

Just thought I'd share these with everyone :) Does anyone else find they have something that they can completely zone out with?

  • I have a bearded dragon, she's so sweet :D, I always wanted a turtle or an iguana. I prefer animals to people any day, they just seem more there & understanding.

  • I just looked up that Porsche. Is the gearbox in that functional? If so, that is excellent.

I used to enjoy making lego. I put all the models I made in the loft, as I didn't like the idea of dismantling them. I did especially enjoy the complex Technic models that had a lot of articulation, large diggers and the like. But I have found that I just like building things in general, rather than just specifically lego. I have built many things ranging from furniture, gym equipment, upto barn conversions. Currently, I am building a car. Although that has had to take a back seat whilst I build somewhere to build it, which has also had to take a back seat whilst I convert some outbuildings into workshop space so I can make some money. Haha! I have a lot of unfinished projects.

All projects have one thing in common though, that is thinking about it first. That is the bit I most enjoy. I guess I enjoy day-dreaming about all the things I could build, how they all fit together, what they are made of, how I can make it as easy as possible for myself, how I can make it harder, look nicer, perform better etc. I spend many hours zoned out day-dreaming.

  • I tend to prefer animals to people, too. When the weather's nice, and my next door neighbour's cat is in my garden, I can relax with her for hours. I like most calm animals, so I can see the attraction to reptiles, too.

For me, I tend to zone out when I'm doing maths, at the moment. At other times in my life it's been knitting, playing games like chess and Go, things like that.
