My daughter is 17 and we are waiting for the 'official' diagnosis but we have been told that she is on the autism spectrum.
She started in 6th form in September in a new school. At first everything was fine then just before Christmas she kept saying she felt sick and couldn't go into school. She suffers from migraines and these increased, meaning she was off sick more and more. Then about a week before Christmas she bunked off school. Since going back after Christmas she's had more time off sick and bunked off again on Monday.
We have explained to the school and they want to support her. However, they are now saying that as her attendance is so poor they may not be able to keep her there.
My daughter has only just told us that she hasn't made any friends there and feels awkward and hates it. She likes her lessons and teachers but hates the fact that she sits in lessons on her own and has no one to hang around with at break. My heart is breaking for her. We are going to meet with the head of sixth form but he can't make people be her friends. I don't know what to do.
She only admitted that she is 'not like everyone else' a few months ago. Before that she would get very upset when we tried to talk to her about it all.
I'd be grateful for any advice.
Thanks.
