Any fans of Music Festivals?

In the past I have taken my daughter (from her teens up to recently early twenties) camping in the Summer to various festivals  -  We found folk festivals to always be family / disability friendly and have also been to other mixed type festivals.  We always have a great time being outdoors soaking up the atmosphere.  But it's getting a bit lonely  -  her Dad isn't bothered so it's always just the two of us.  I always watch groups having meals together and larking about playing music in their tents and wish we had some pals who feel the same about festivals.  I went to loads when I was a lass in the 70s and 80s and just don't want my lovely daughter to miss out on the anarchy!  Anyone else feel the same?

  • In the past I have been to one or two festivals, mainly folk festivals as that is the music I like.

Although in the past I remember some of the famous festivals which I didn't attend - Weeley (think that is how you spell it!) Reading, Donnington, Knebworth, the original Glastonbury Festival - to name but a few (there are more I remember such as Rainsbrook 1969, in a muddy field near Rugby which featured Pink Floyd, The Nice, King Crimson, Edgar Broughton Band, Ralph McTell and others, and was attended by a couple of hundred people in the pouring rain.  They really knew how to make a spectacular flop from some of the iconic bands of the era in those days!)

I have also wanted to visit Cropredy Festival, organised by Fairport Convention, it always seems such a nice festival to attend, but have never got round to it.  I am not a very sociable person by the way and have always had a great deal of difficulty 'joining in' with activities.

I did take my son and daughter to some very minor fold festivals when they were children.  However, it happens when they get a bit older that they don't really want to tag along and since my divorce from their mother (a long time ago now I may add) they never came with me again, although we did go camping near the sea side for a few years.  They are now grown up, and the past is a far off land that will never again be reached.

    Such is life.
