Self harming 7 year old. Help!

Hi there. This is my first time using this community page. I'm struggling with my youngest boy hitting himself when he gets into trouble or if he accidentally does somethin. Last night my friends son (3) was hit him. In his efforts to get away he accidentally injured another child. He was visibly upset and began to hit himsel. I didn't know what to do to help him and I wondered if anyone had any experience of this with either themselves or their kid?

  • Thank you both for your replies. I have two sons with autism. One self harms, the other self loathes. It's horrible as a mother to watch your sons go through it. You feel quite helples. I appreciate your responses. I have sought phsycological support but we've been discharge. It's a tough one. 

  • I don't have any advice I'm seeking help myself but just wanted to tell you your not alone my 7 ye old son does the same he punches himself in the head & says self loathing things like he hates himself for what he does etc.... I'm so worried for his mental health in future as I have lost a close relating due to suicide already.
