Aspergers & The Territorial Army?

My son has just told me he has been turned down from joining the TA because he has Aspergers, surely this isn't legal?

It's actually called the Army Reserve now, FWIW. The ASD 'bar' applies across the forces I believe; it's also the case with regards to multiple bouts of depression - so that's me barred on two counts.

Ironically, a couple of history's greatest generals seem to me like textbook ASD cases: Bernard Montgomery and George S. Patton.
