My Little Pony

Anyone else with this obsession here? :P

It was absolutely massive in internet nerd culture around 2011-2012 (and is still pretty big now) so certainly it picked up a lot of those kinds of personalities that sometimes coincide(?) with the autistic spectrum.

As for me I couldn't really be more "Brony" if I tried.  Always in forums about it, huge collection of figures, plushies, t-shirts, go to conventions, etc.  If there's a flat surface there's a pony on it, if it's a vertical surface then a pony sticker.  And as anyone who knows the show/characters would spot with the username, there's usually some indication of my interest somewhere.

I really love how much creativity there is in its community.  So many brilliant fanmade videos on Youtube.  So many good cosplays at conventions.  Etc.  There are um, infamously less tasteful corners (don't ask) but I really think they're something of a minority.

Generally speaking when I get into things I get into them really heavily and for years.

  • None taken, to each their own!  I've heard far worse reactions, ranging from "okay that's weird" to thinly veiled accusations of paedophilia and/or zoophilia... I think it's fine to be repulsed by it like any other personal taste and it's always a nice bonus not to be attacked for it ;)  (I'm not normally one to bring it up on non-pony forums, aside from the odd Facebook post ususally when a little too "merry" - it's usually a quick way to get dogpiled - but figured it was worth a shot here.  However this message board is far deader than I realised on signing up)

The show itself is pretty well done (hence the cult status) and not the rainbow puking horses many imagine but yeah you'd be best off staying away from conventions then, they have their fair share of furries.

Not familiar with Cats.  Sounds cool though, I always love the efforts people put into their cosplays and generally having fun (and being much braver than me)

Age wise there is no "too old", it's often said in the MLP fandom (particularly given that the target audience of young girls is actually a minority in the 'brony' branches of it) that age is just a number.  There have been 50somethings at the past couple of cons I've been to.  I'm in my 30s along with several others I know :p  But yeah doesn't sound like your cup of tea, fair enough!

Thought it worth throwing a topic out there in case there were any lurking about.
