Hello, This is my first post, I'm hoping somebody can help/offer advice.
My little boy is 4 years old and was diagnosed with moderate autism earlier this year.
He has always been very active in terms of bouncing, falpping etc...and he seems to go through different stages of either flapping, bouncing, swimming position flapping fo legs.
This usually isn't a porblem and we just let him do it as often as he likes as it seems to bring him comfort.
His latest habit though is a bit innapropriate I feel. Mostly while lying down and when listening to music or watching TV he will lie on his back and flap around his 'down below' area and kick his legs. He will do this for about ten minutes at times and get very hot and sweaty by the end. He also does it standing up. He has been doing it so much that his down below area has become quite red.
I don't know whether I should be trying to stop him from doing this or perhaps allowing him to do it at home and not out and about? I have tried ocuppying his hands with something else instead but it doesn't seem to work.
Has anybody had anything similar or can offer any advice?
Thank you in advance.
