Morning everyone, I've not commented on here for such a long time, so apologies for that!
I was interested to hear some of your experiences with behaviour cycles. I've been looking online for something about this yet have failed to find anything, however, i know that i've discussed it with my sons own teachers and some ASC parent friends of mine.
Four year behaviour/hormone cycles: Do you think they are an actual thing?
My sons behaviour spiked dramatically between age 5 and 6. There were of course external factors, but the severity of his meltdowns was at times extreme and shocking. Post age 6 things calmed again (much to our releif). This was when school (Inscape House School, in Cheadle) explained to us about a theory relating to behaviour development and hormones that spiked on average every four years.
I admit i hadn't really thought of it again until this morning. Another parent mentioned extreme behaviour of her 9 year old. My son was 10 just a few weeks ago, and wow, the last year has been tough once again. Now starting to calm again. And it struck me, could this be the same cycle that i'd discussed a few years ago?
Thanks for reading, would love your thoughts.
