Think my son has aspergers

Hi my son is 4 and has an Ehc and so had assessment with ed psych everything they put sounds to me as if he is on the autistic spectrum but he's not diagnosed And I don't know where to start and wether I need to get him referred or they will keep an eye on him. He's just started school and won't communicate with other children but will with adults and he won't use the toilet at school coming home holding himself as he's bursting any tips or advice would be great fully recieved .

  • Thank you for your reply my son has not been formally diagnosed he has epilepsy , sensory processing disorder and some mild delays including speech. He has an Ehc for a these reasons during the process he had to be assessed by an educational psychologist her report does not mention autism but it says he is unable to communicate with his peers and plays on his own and doesn't have any firm friendships. It also states he is unable to use flexible thinking and doesn't like to engage in pretend play He struggles with transition and uses a schedule to help with this ,he has just started school and me and his Senco have both said these areas show autistic tendencies he seems to be coping ok with the change but he is not interacting with anyone and refusing to use the toilet in school because it's new. I have asked our health visitor who doesn't think it's worth getting a diagnosis as it will make no difference to how we treat him.
