just did an AQ test

i did the test and scored 45... I am not shocked, just frustrates me more.... I am going through the motion of trying to get help now but it's taking ages. my family and I know something needs looking at I just hope I get some help.

I also have scored considerably higher.

But there is a difference in "90% of those with an ASD score more than xx" to "90% of those who score xx have an ASD"

And I understand/suspect the test to show the former.

Just to add to Trainspotter's comment, Baron Cohen's original data suggested that only 2% of people without an ASC would score over 32 (and only 1% of women). So he actually did think your score indicated how likely you were to have autism. However, researchers are always out to prove their own theories, so there is that too!

I don't think the magnitude of the score necessarily means you are more likely to be on the Asd spectrum, just that you share characteristics with those on the spectrum so it may be worth getting a diagnosis.

My score fluctuates when I have taken the test between 40 and 46, generally around 43 to 46 and I am awaiting a diagnosis.  But I don't think it is something to worry about, we are what we are whatever scores we get in tests or whatever a diagnosis says.

We should all be accepted for what we are and all as the test or a diagnosis says is what society wants to pigeon hole us into.  Above everything else we are individuals with individual needs which may need to be taken account of in certain aspects of life in order to allow society to fit in with our needs and quirks.

Simon Baron Cohen developed the AQ around the turn of the century. He's an eminent autism researcher at Cambridge University, and the cousin of Sasha Baron Cohen, the comedian. I'm not a huge fan of some of his theories but I do like the AQ.

My usual score is 42, but it fluctuates slightly depending on how stressed I am, between 39-46 (I think I overestimate my social capabilities when I'm happy, and think I'm less capable when I'm feeling bad! 42 is about right.)

37 on AQ, and diagnosed ASD.

Anyone know who invented the Quotient test?

never done one so don't know what it means although diagnosed on the ASD spectrum.

I score around 32 on that test, and your score isn't very high so don't worry.

The test is designed to test your levels of cognitive empathy, and your social abilities, so all a score of 37 means is that you have deficits in those areas in comparison to an allistic person.

Are you diagnosed? 

i know im a high functioning autistic but that score seems really high
