After school clubs

Hi, this is my first time posting and would appreciate your thoughts.

My 8 year old boy goes to Cubs which he enjoys but to be honest he does not really join in, and when I ask why he goes, he said he likes to play the games, but he cannot remember anything he learns, and he likes to 'run around'.

I know that he can at times like to run away or play on his own in the corner and feel that he may benefit from doing another kind of social event.

Have you had any experience of Martial Arts that may be good for kids with ASD or any suggestions for any other clubs he may find suitable? It is hard to find clubs which 'get' children on the spectrum.

Thank you.

  • Hi gilltebb,

I am not sure whether this is relevant or if he likes football. But i am the Disability Football Development Officer at Kent FA, we have a number of clubs that cater for individuals with disabilities.
