Meeting friends

Hello everyone,

My name is Edward, I am 22 years old and I suffer from High-Functioning Autism. I am from Buckinghamshire originally (my family live there currently), but I am at a residential home in Cambridgeshire, and do visit my family in Buckinghamshire on a regular occasion.

I would be very interested hear from adults who suffer from High-Functioning Autism, or Aspergers Syndrome. Would also be nice to hear from parents, whose son/daughter is affected with one of the conditions!

Look forward to hearing from you,

Edward

  • Hi Hope!

I thank you for your mail, but excuse me for my lateness. I was very busy last time. And I went to Paris twice this week.

I thank you also for your informations about Salisbury. This town must be very intersting.

I'm not sure to go to England this year, but I know that I shall go to The United States of America next August. A woman I met in a Asperger Café offers to me the travel. I shall go to Los Angeles and to Las Vegas. I have never been to there.

And you, have you been to the Unisted Sates of maerica. If yes, in what States have you been?

  • Hi Camille,

An English city you might be interested in visiting is Salisbury. I have visited this place two times with my support worker. Salisbury has a very old Cathedral with a very high spire, and you can look at one of the original copies of the Magna Carta.

Salisbury has an interesting museum which is set in an old house, and there is a National Trust property called Mompesson House in the Cathedral Close: an 18th century Queen Anne House which was owned by an MP. The 1996 film Sense and Sensibility, with the actress Kate Winslet, was filmed here.

There are great walks around Salibury - Constable country, for this is where the famous artist painted many of his key works. A walk round Salisbury water meadows is a must. Also, if you ever visit this area, don't miss Stonehenge and Old Sarum, two ancient heritage sites.

  • Hi camile I am David am 26 years old autistic boy I live in England I am not looking to swap but if I got to know you I'd gladly show u around my home city Liverpool if u like I enjoy reading so it would be good to borrow you some books if intreasted pm me
  • Hello evreybody!

My name's Camille93. I am twenty-six years old, I am a student and I am an autist asperger. I was recently diagnosticted with autism in Paris and my diagnostic is very good, and it's better than the fist. Because twenty years ago, I was diagnosed "Childhood Psycho". I laughed when I read the paper of this diagnostic. But, don't worry for that. It isn't longer important today!

Now, I think at future. I am interested by english literature and England and I love the travels.

Also, when, I lived in Paris, I participated in asperger associations, where the president organized aspergers' meetings, picnics in gardens, games afternoons and feasts. But since I live in Brest, I don't find autists' meetings. There aren't associations for austists adults in the least.

Also, when I lived in Paris, I had a friend, who had organized a week-end in Bruxelles last year, and we were many. I didn't know this town, and I didn't know Belgium, and I loveBruwelles.

Also, I look for a family with an autist (asperger, or Kanner, or other) in England, because I would to go to England and particularly to London. I would like to visit this town. I can move  alone. But, for discovering London, I prefer to not be alone. It's for that I search a family. Why England? Because I am interested by the architectures, the british series TV as "Mr Bean, Absolutely Fabulous, The Prisonner..., the writers as Thomas Hardy, Beatrix Potter, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, and by your practices. It's for that I would like to echange with a family. Is it possible on this forum? And why London? Because I would like to begin by the capital.

    I thank you.

    Camille93.

  • Hi Edward,

    Have you seen this site?

    www.specialfriends.com

It's a great site and you should be able to find plenty of people to chat to on there.

  • Hi Edward

I am a Mum of 3, i have a son age 10 with ASD and a daughter age 15 with undiagnosed Asperges, how old were you when you were diagnosed? and can you tell me how to differentiate between High functioning Autism and Asperges as I am unsure,

my daughter is struggling at school socially and stresses about schoolwork, although she does well according to her teachers. just latley she scratched her hand till it was raw and when i asked her about it she said she was nervous and didnt realise she done it, do you think this is typical and how does she avoid it in the future.

    Thanks C
