Emotional sensitivity and the arts

Given the sometimes intense sensory experiences of Aspies I have often wondered how many famous artists, authors, actors, choreographers, fashion designers, sculpters, etc. have been on the AS. They say people such as Beethoven and Mozart may have been Aspies and I understand that Aspies are particulary good at expressing their emotions through the arts since they often cannot communicate well using verbal and non-verbal language. I don't know whether I'm on the AS but sometimes, after hearing a bit of music say, in an ad or whatever, I can be overcome with intense reverie. I wonder whether van Gogh was an Aspie because he certainly had a troubled emotional life and seemed to experience the world more intensely than most people.

If you google for "van gogh asperger" you hit a lot of articles that say exactly what you are saying. People with Asperger's are often cut off from the world and spend their time obsessivley following their passions and listening to things that other people are too busy to hear and seeing things that other people are too busy to see.

But, whilst people with Aspergers often have obsessions, people with obsessions aren't all autistic. We have to be careful of jumping to conclusions (people with autism often do that too!) and be careful of logical errors where the distinction between induction and deduction is very important.
