Stop these 'Captcha' things please!

OK, I know it was me who made the big fuss about the spammers who were spoiling this forum a few weeks ago.  And appreciate that the new 'captcha' code thingamy you've introduiced after every attempt to post anythingf (regardless whether one has successfully logged in or not) must be intended to weed out the spammers.

BUT, it is EXTREMELY annoying to have to run the gauntlet of typing vague and ambiguous characters into a 'box' before knowing whether one has wasted one's ime completely or not.

Please look at other forums. There are plenty that seem to work successfully 99.9% of the time without resoprting to this ridiculous palaver.

    No, the captcha thing isn't a response to your complaints but it is a response to horrendous and mindless spamming from China in the last few days. The forum has been almost unusable for the last fortnight but most if it has been removed by the admins who are doing what they can.

    It would be good if known and trusted users could be whitelisted whilst new users could be required to do the captcha thing until they were seen to be genuine forum users - I have flagged this post to the mods to see if that is possible
