Location-specific Forums

Given as this is a major resource for autistic and asperger's people in the UK (and elsewhere in the world too), it'd be nice if we had some sites specific to regions (and some 'elsewhere' type forums too) so we can try to meet others or get information on serves specific to our areas.

This site in general does give information on area-specific resources, but it can be tough to navagate through, it also may not include non NAS groups or services.

  • Hi Bloodheart,

We're in really early days at the moment and our current view is to focus on bringing together as many people as possible. Everyone is more than welcome to start individual discussions about specific regions but right now it could split the support people would receive to have sections for certain regions.

It's also worth noting that we right now we're able to support the Community as place for people to communicate online but not as a service to help people meet up locally.

I'm sorry you find it difficult to navigate the main website. The key area for finding local services is our Autism Services Directory, which you may want to look at if you haven't used it before.

And we do everything we can to make it the most comprehensive service available, including many, many non-NAS autism services. Though we're never going to be entirely up to date and some may be missing.

So one for us to think about as we move forward, though if other people agree this would be something useful please let us know.
