Hi all,

My girlfriend has 2 kids, one of which has Autism and a high-risk intellectual disability. He's 3 in May, and we'll call him Joe.

Basically, the father walked out on them when signs of Autism came up, funny as it supposedly carries in his side of the family.

He's recently started taking the 2 kids once a week for maybe 6 hours. However, whenever he decides to take them, Joe is completely off for the next few days. He'll have frequent meltdowns (he's never usually that bad to be honest).  Joe will not sleep at all for the next maybe 2-3 nights after seeing his father.

Anybody any advice or experienced anything similar?
