How do you cope with going to the shops?

I dislike visiting the shops. It's noisy, bright, busy and people talk to you.

I find it difficult going through checkouts because I don't like making eye contact and I don't do small talk. I try to go through the self service checkouts, but then they bleep and the worker has to come over the fix it and they chat to you anyway.

  • Big problem for me, I don't really cope. Tonight was a bad visit to tesco, just before the bank holiday. I left work, and did my usual thinking to try and avoid going, even though I have very little to eat at home.

I went, it was a nightmare, everyone rushes around. People just get so close to you, I am sure some of them are doing it because they want you out of the way. Kids running around and spitting; two toddlers were screaming constantly. Maybe they could be autistic, why don't supermarkets have a creche.

I spent 2.5 hours to do a basic shop, really wish I could do it quicker. They keep moving things around, prices are different, stuff no longer available.

Anyway, I am off work next week, and have at least got that out of the way.

I hate the self service checkouts, I use the scan and shop now, which has been easier. Just bag items up as you shop along, no big queues at the checkout, and don't usually have to speak to anyone

    General shopping is stressful too

I tried online shopping, but found it difficult with the minimum value you had to order, and fresh stuff only lasting a couple of days.
