Education woes

Hi I have a 16 year old son with Aspergers syndrome. I am coming up against brick walls with his education. He has recently started sixth form and is getting no help or support due to finances. If he had gone to the local college he would be getting extra help and support.  Can anyone tell me if there is anything I do to help him or gain extra help because he is currently failing due to the changes he has made within this new school year. I am aat my wits ends and so worried that if nothing is done now his whole life will be affected.

please help!

  • Hi,

I cant offer you any advice as im in a similar situation (but in reverse), just wanted to offer my support. My son is doing ok at the NC level course at college he is doing but there is very little support and Im told he will get more support when he is doing a HNC as he can apply for funding to provide it.However if he had stayed at school and done 6th year (we are in scotland) he would of recieved full suport.

    Its crazy isnt it??

Good luck trying to sort this out. Have you phoned the education rights helpline, I havnt as  he is doing ok, not great but ok he will pass I think, he is having more meltdowns at home because of problems but i can usualy sort them.
