Hello,
This is always a question that has baffled me and I havnt asked as we had no firm diagnosis for our son at the time, who's now been diagnosed with autism, his 3years old.
Now i always knew he was 'different' which is a part of his charm and character which we always did and always will love. But when he was 1year-18months he began using words, in the right context like 'yes, no, ta' and even did pretend play using his phone and saying 'yeah yeah, alright bye bye' he used the right facial expressions I have loads of videos where he was being 'cheeky' and used 'oops' expression for doing things he knew he shouldnt etc...
and then it just stopped, and he doesn't pretend play and doesn't speak many words in context at all and doesn't use the right facial expression. I understand fully this is the nature of his condition and has never and will never effect how I feel about him but how did he just loose those skills? I'm sorry if this sounds silly in any way but Its the only element I don't understand if anyone could shed some light.
Thank you,
Emily x
