more than one child with Autism

I have 3 kids 6, 4 and 3 years old, my six year old is not on the spectrum, my 4 year old got diagnosed autistic in April it was a really shock and learning curve all at the same time for me, I haven't really met any other parents but i felt ok and quiet adapt to cope with it, however today nursery have said that I should get my 3 year old son tested as he is displaying some autistic traits, i feel quiet sad, to go from knowing nothing about Autism to possibly have to kids diagnosed in quick succession. It annoys me slightly you can have 2 kids who may be autistic 1 definitely but there is no rhyme or reason why, you just learn to live with it. my 4 year old is a girl.

has anyone else had this? am i right to have mixed emotions, i adore my children but it's hard not to worry about there futures xx

  • I can understand your worry as being autistic is not painted as a positive thing by professionals.

Be reassured that of the only two people in my family who have ever gone to university both are autistic. I have a father who was autistic as well as several autistic cousins and siblings' children. We just got lucky!
