Hurting other children

Hi. I'm new to this this so have never been on dissusion sites.  I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice please.  I have a 4 year old daugher who has just started school.  She is currently having assessments for autism and has trates of autism and ADHD.  She is a lovely little girl and is bright but she hurts the other children in her class.  She scratches them, hits them, pinches or pushes them.  I don't know what triggers it, she does it to me as well.  I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to stop her hurting people??

Many thanks.

  • One factor often discussed in textbooks is that if you feel pain inadvertantly inflicted by others a child might tend to respond experimentally, exploring how others react to it.

Autistic spectrum heightens both physical sensation and perception of things said. That creates a world where distress is caused by others, and where a child sees that as unjust.

Consequently a reaction can be trying to see if those who hurt her hurt by return. It may not be as simple as retaliation - more puzzlement.

There also may be experiments in tactile sensation in relation to the reaction in others, compared to perception of being touched/seemingly abused.
