 I've just joined this website. Be nice to speak to people who are going through similar experiences to me and my 5 year old. He was diagnosed with Autism last June. He is on the lower scale of the spectrum, is main issues are communication and social. 

He had recently starting smacking people, including me family members and his friends at school when he doesn't know how to deal with his emotions, does anyone else have this issue?

  • Are other people smacking him? This could be happening at school, inflicted by other children, and with poor social integration and lack of social feedback, may interpret smacking as an acceptable response.

    Some children on the spectrum though experience difficulties with tactile sensation and may be smacking as an experiment with puzzling surroundings.
