Amazing things our autistic child can do!

Sometimes it's hard not to get caught up in the difficulties of raising an autistic child and lose sight of the amazing things about them. Here's a list of the clever things that our grandson can do!

1. See a car number plate once and remember it for ever.

2. Be the family telephone directory...he never forgets a telephone number.

3. Balance things that defy balancing.

4. Never forget a journey route if we have done it once before.

5. Come up with amazing and funny excuses (even though he doesn't realize they

    are funny).

6. Look smarter and better dressed than any other child around. (suit wearer..tie,             waistcoat... the lot).

7. Sees the quirky side of life to cheer everyone else up.

8. Come up with his own hilarious language for electrical gadgets. ie. light turner

oner cord end. ( end of the light pull in his bedroom).

9. Be cuddly and affectionate unlike other 14 year olds.

10. Learn to drive a massive truck on his simulator within 20 minutes including full

     clutch control.

11. Draw intricate and detailed road system maps complete with traffic lights.

12. Developed his reading skills from reading the subtitles on tv as he couldn't

     process the language quickly enough.

I could go on and on. He is a marvel! I would love to see your lists!!!

  • Hi Blossom59, nice to see a post like this i hope others can add to it.

The ones on there that i can relate to are:

    1. See a car number plate once and remember it for ever.

My Grandad can tell me every number plate on every Wagon, Car and Motorbike he's everowned and i can remember every car i owned and even the ones after a cirtain age that he owned.

    11. Draw intricate and detailed road system maps complete with traffic lights.

I always wanted to make these more efficient.

Nice post al the best and kindreguards Steven..

  • Your grandson sounds amazing - I cannot claim to have half of his skills though!
