Hi, i was wondering how i can find local groups to me, around Canterbury, Kent.  My son is 17 and diagnosed with Aspergers and severe anxiety.  I need to find ways of getting him out of the house.  

College was too big for him to cope with, this he tried two years running. Now he is on Quitiapine tablets to ease the depression, which this seems to be helping, however i am worried as he spend so much time in his room and on the computer.

I have tried searching for groups locally but can't find any and i feel at a loss as what to do to help him.  Psychiatrist and CAMHS will be discharging him soon and we are pretty much left to deal with things on our own.  I am new to understanding Aspergers along with my son and am not sure what to do that would be best.

Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Hi Gill, I too live in Canterbury and there is a group for children, I think, or for parents of children, but there seems to be nothing for adults. I have ASD and I'm in my fifties.I have mental health problems too, I used to have a great CPN but my present one doesn't know much about autism, yet!
