Wider Audience?

I feel that that the community is now losing it's impetus.  The fact that it is still based on just us founders limits the discussions, questions and advice that are put forward.  This is highlighted by the fact that there are very few new discussions or replies being posted; the "last activities" on the majority of dicussions is weeks ago.

Even though we are used to forums, I think that we now need input from a wider range of subscribers to broaden the discussions and the support and advice given.  I certainly don't mean to be critical because I believe this can be a brilliant resource for families affected by autism and Asperger's Syndrome.

Do the moderators know when this community will be open to everyone?

Thanks

  • I will put a link on my forum

  • You're right Paul.  It will be good

  • Well I'm here now?  We are still beta-testing are we not?

One day this site will be nothing but fun, and we will all be having a busy time fielding the carry on.  But for now, I'd enjoy the calm before the storm!

  • Hi Aspiemum,

I wouldn't disagree at all, right now we've promoted the Community to a small audience during the testing and that's highlight a number of issues we've had to work on.

The most significant problem has been the lack of email updates. Looking at the level of activity and feedback we decided this really needed to be in place before promoting the service to any other groups or opening it up to the public. Without this we were likely to see the same pattern of activity - a boost as the messages went out, tailing off as people didn't know when a message was responded to.

The technical work is taking place right now and has been ongoing for the last couple of weeks, you can see details here:

Once that's in place, which is should be next week, and we've had a chance to test it here in a live environment I think we'll be at a stage of pushing out to a much wider audience. It's very likely, as long as problems don't appear, that this will include opening the service to the public.

And thanks again for your concern, we always knew there was likely to be problems highlighted during the testing and that might have generated some delays when we worked to resolve them, but it's good to know people are bearing with us whilst we get ready for a proper public opening.

Hopefully you'll see a dramatic increase in the level of activity over the next week or two, so don't worry, we're on the same page - just trying to get everything ready before leaping forward again :)
