My son aged 8 has been diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum. He currently plays Rugby. The coaches are exceptionally good and really make him very welcome plus are exceptionally inclusive. The philosophy is that those who train, play and since my son is there every training session, he is always very much included within the teams playing matches.
The coaches all talk about there being a charity dedicated to the inclusion of children diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum playing Rugby. Sadly no one has any details of the charity and neither the coaches nor myself have been able to get in touch. Does anyone know of this charity? Also it would be really good to hear of other parents experience with their children playing Rugby. My experience is completely positive and there is absolutely no doubt that Rugby has improved both my son’s gross motor control and fine motor control. He has an additional diagnosis of dyspraxia and Rugby really helps.
