Valuable Resource

Do you think this site not only offers help to autistic people who need practical advice but also facilitates an exchange of thoughts between people who may not have the opportunity to express their inner thoughts elsewhere, and who I have found to be quite bright individuals?

Parents
  • yes for me personally

generally speaking the more people there are that might respond the chances of response improves and this is a big group of members

I also suspect that autistic people are maybe a bit more able to communicate with other autistic people than with neurotypical in the main.

The thing that does intrigue and also perhaps sadden me too is that of on the number of views compared with the number of replies for posts.

Looking at that it seems to me that whilst there is an exchange of views within the posts there may be a lot of people reading them without making comments.

I wonder a lot how these people are and what they make of the advice and thoughts shared and what they have to "say" too.

I assume this is because many don't find communicating easy even with peers; especially when you can see the results onscreen, and knowing threads can potentially viewed by the public. I find it pleasing when there are a lot of 'views' because I hope they are finding the post useful, interesting and entertaining. The point of this site is to be inclusive. So, I wouldn't be sad about this factor - I'm sure watchers get as much out of reading threads as those who respond, as there are few places that give such an opportunity.

And a message for watchers if you don't know already, there is a magazine written by and for autistic people, which is available free online [or you can buy paper copies] - Spectrum magazine.
