Does anybody else avoid hospitals because of how they’re treated?

I will not go to hospital (A&E) regardless of how I feel or the advice from others - including ambo crews when called by others - because of the disgusting way I have been treated by the nurses. I would rather die at home in agony than be subjected to the cruel, vicious and disgusting treatment and behaviour meted out by these so-called angels. They are disgusting in the way they treat some people and I avoid all contact with them. Has anybody else been belittled, abused or dangerously ignored by these sick women when they’ve gone to hospital?

  • Some are abusive but not all by any means. Perhaps you've been unlucky. There are good and bad employees in all fields, including charities.

  • Couldn't agree more. Didn't help that i spent most my childhood in a hospital, a really horrible and depressing brutalist building too, made those Soviet "khrushchevka's" look like those midwest American churches on the prairie by comparison.

I don't even call 111 now as all they do is force an ambulance on you for almost anything, only to get to said hospital and be made to feel like a mug for going, hey, it was your decision not mine!

I was in A and E once, and I won't be ever again, seriously, if I can still move my legs I'll happily walk home. I had badly injured my head, I had a major concussion but also had injuries on my arms as well. I call 111, just for advice, get told I need to go to hospital via ambulance, it's about 8pm, I wait until 3am, and ambulance doesn't come. So I get to taken by family to A and E, switch over, bloods get taken, bloods get taken again, it's around 7am, my body is in chronic pain from been sat upright on a seat, bare in mind, concussed so I'm fighting myself to not fall flat on my face.  Went home in the end, on the way out I saw said ambulance workers cracking jokes at the front, they'd been there about an hour, zero urgency at all from them seemingly. Was a Thursday night in September by the way, so hardly an August Saturday night with England in a cup final.

I personally believe there's no smoke without fire, and if they need to put up a sign saying "It's an offense to abuse our staff", I personally question why people were abusing them in the first place.
