This is good news re loud fireworks:
In my area, most fireworks within earshot went off at Halloween. We don’t have Bonfire Night here.
There were fewer loud bangs than usual. I’m wondering if people are becoming more concerned about the impact of fireworks on the environment, people and pets. Last year there was an almighty crack/bang that must have been some sort of illegal firework. It affected me for weeks. I hadn’t heard anything like that since a bomb close by was detonated during the troubles.
Over the years, private firework displays have been legal or illegal, off and on in my area. It didn’t make any audible difference as people could buy them illegally. I wonder if it would be different now?
My dogs are immune to noise from fireworks. They were gradually introduced to bangs and other unpleasant noises from early puppyhood. They are a gun dog breed (mine are pets), which I think makes them more likely to tolerate bangs and cracks.
My friend’s border collie is very sensitive to noise. She experiences intense fear and freezes, not able to eat for days.
I think the government needs to have a plan that will effectively prevent fireworks of all types being used irresponsibly. To date, politicians haven’t proposed anything that gives me confidence the issue can be addressed.
