Lets talk music!

Hey everyone!

What's your favourite kind of music to listen to when you're bored, feeling sad, relaxing, or even when you're in the middle of doing something?

Do you have a particular song or artist that you always find yourself going back to?

Personally, my music taste is a bit of everything! I enjoy listening to Country, Pop and plenty of other genres. I love discovering new songs and finding music that suits whatever mood I'm in.

I'd love to hear what everyone else enjoys listening to!

What's your favourite music genre?
Who's your favourite artist or band?
What's that one song you never get tired of?

Feel free to share your favourite songs and recommendations. Let's discover some new music together!

Thanks!

  • I used to be a jazz, baroque, and Björk person. It was something that crystallised when I was 16 or 17. Jazz and baroque felt like pure relief. Björk sounded so fresh and different. Her album Debut felt like a revelation. Back then, among my friends, it was either Nirvana or Pink Floyd, so I was pretty much on my own with her. Things have evolved over the years, though Björk is still very much a go to for me.

I don't really have a single favourite genre. I listen to whatever feels engaging and structurally interesting, but without being sensory overload. Some time ago, to stop myself building enormous playlists, I decided to focus on artists with fewer than 1000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Discovering hidden gems has become a bit of a quiet hobby.

Because of alexithymia, I don't consciously pick music to match an emotional state. It's almost the reverse. Whatever music catches my attention at a particular moment often acts a bit like a mirror. It helps me deduce what I might actually be feeling internally.

@ieuan22, what is the one song you never get tired of?

  • There actually not bad tastes in music there ngl

  • I particularly like Post-Punk/Indie. Though getting more into Drone Rock.

My favourite Artists are Joy Division, Magazine, The Fall, Mansun/Paul Draper, Six by Seven and David Bowie.

I never get tired of 'Shot by Both Sides' by Magazine. Connects with me, on so many levels.
