Hi guys, today I was diagnosed with Level 1 Autism. It’s something I’ve felt for years but I wanted a diagnosis to understand myself better. I feel validated in the fact that after all these years it’s not ‘just anxiety’ and I have an explanation to the way my brain works and why I respond to things the way I do. But I do kind of feel like an imposter like what if they’ve got it wrong.. did anyone else feel this way?
I’m just wondering, did anyone else reach out for any support after receiving a diagnosis? I’ve been told I can be referred for therapy but are there any support groups or anything like that? I am an adult in my mid 20s and I just feel like a lot of support with autism is centred towards children. Open to any suggestions that others have done that has helped.
Thank you
