Problems with Time

At the weekend I reset all our clocks to the same time, now 3 days later they've all changed themselves back to however fast or slow they were before the change over? So again no two clocks in my house ever tell the same time.

How weird, does this happen to other's or is it just a me thing?

  • Time is an illusion. Lunch time doubley so.

  • One of the clocks has a new battery, none of them are digital.

Of course you should thank shoes, they have souls too!

I think the house rather likes bring in different time zones, even if its only by a couple of minutes

  • I'm all over the map, since the time changed.

Sleep hasn't been great. Plus, I was busier than usual.

The time on my heating meter always lags, given time. And adjusting the time, on it, is a nightmare.

  • Ah, a good explanation. But secretly I wish it was the Spirit of the Clock.

  • I do tend to thank my computer and mobile phone for their services every now and again

I surprised myself by thanking an AI for some information. The response I got was, 'you are very welcome. Is there anything else you want to know?' That's a better response than I get from most humans. I think I am beginning to like these things.

  • now 3 days later they've all changed themselves back to however fast or slow they were before the change over?

Did you praise them and thank them for their diligent service over the year? Some people believe there are spirits in these things so it wouldn't do any harm to try it.

Assuming they were all reset to be at the same, matching time then they slow down by, say, 3 minutes over the next three days  but then stay at this constant difference then there is something going on. If they slow down by 1 minute per day every day then it is just a callibration issue and the clocks often have a little balance dial on the back if they are mechanical (eg wind up clocks). If they are battery powered and they do the same on a fresh battery then they are just duff.

In spite of being an atheist and logical person I do tend to thank my computer and mobile phone for their services every now and again and have had very few problems with them in spite of using them lots. Heck I even thank an old pair of shoes for their service when throwing them away - a habit I picked up from time in Japan I think.

  • Batteries running low make clocks slow down.
