Research Projects

I keep seeing them on here and I'd love to take part, but most of them are to far away, I can't go to London for stuff, its to far away, to expensive and would involve an overnight stay.

Mind you it would help if I could manage the video call stuff too, but I can't, I feel this is another example of digital exclusion, to go along with the geographical exclusion

One of these things is within your control and the other isn't. You said on another thread earlier that you chose not to have a smart phone that would allow you do have these sorts of video calls so is it really that you are being excluded or that you are choosing to be excluded?

I'm not having a go at you, just asking if you consider this to be a consequence of a choice you are making.

Thinking more about this, perhaps I am trying to encourage you to weight the potential benefits and reconsider trying to overcome your near phobia of tech that is causing you so many inconveniences.

Children
  • I know my inability with tech is limiting and the Gods know how much I've tried to learn, sometimes just when I'm starting to get the hang of it, it all changes and I have to start from scratch. I know random weird stuff happens to everybody, but more of it does seem to happen to me than others and it does make me nervous, I've been locked out of my pooter so many times, sometimes I've had to take it to be fixed by a shop, or the tech guys at uni. I wouldn't know where to go to get help, most people seem to start with with things that are way to complicated for me, my kids seem loathe to help as they can't cope with such a low base line of knowlege and they're not around enough to help if something goes badly wrong.

I did have a smart phone once and tried it for a couple of months, I never learned how to answer a call, I could make one, but not answer one and the screen kept going black so fast, I could never really see what I was looking at or for, I knew that I needed to change the settings, but it wouldn't stay on long enough for me to even find the right icon.
