A delicate but potentially rewarding endeavour

So, in the field of cricket, there is a notable ex-player still involved in the game both by administration and commentry whos career, particularly in the commentry box, shows the effects of ASV. Some readers with sporting interests will know by now to whom I refer...let us give him his anonymity untill such a time as he may declare himself.

In my opinion this person would make a powerful advocate for autism equality. I have his contact details and consider writing to him about this. Any advice regarding the matter and in particular how to avoid offending the individual (for whom I have nothing but the greatest respect both as a sportsman and a person) would be very welcome.

  • Well clearly such reckless and inappropriate presumtion as to essay a diagnosis would be an open invitation to take offence wouldnt it? Id reached that conclusion on my own, hense the original question.

I had been idly considering asking him to comment on Asperger's and social inclusion particularly as with regards to grass roots sporting participation and the game of cricket, which is a matter of some interest to myself anyway and might provoke epiphany and even be of interest to the recipient, but even that seems a bit tough to justify; posting here I guess was my process in the final steps of disuading myself mainly because it not really being the responsibility of his office it would be insultingly transparant as intrigue goes.

But get this, as I was composing this, I did some googling and the suggestion has been publicly made in the blogosphere! I at least was toying with the idea of a letter!
